July 2020

Our flight was scheduled to leave at 9:00 am today for Guatemala.  Unfortunately it has been cancelled again.     Our new date is now the 24th of August.   The President of Guatemala is to have an announcement on the 11th of August regarding travel and the airport status.   Rumors are saying that Citizens and Residents (which we are) will be allowed back first with a COVID test within 48 hours of arrival and a 14-day mandatory quarantine period once arrived.  While this is not necessarily optimal situation for us we will be going back as soon as the airport is opened.   It is expected that other activities will be able to go forward as well such as the feeding center and the home construction - albeit - with limitation.   Even with these restrictions,  we are so looking forward to returning home and to the ministry He has called us for.

Even though we are State-side at the present,   just like last month we were able to send funds to help several families in Santa María de Jesús who are struggling to put food on the table for their children.  In addition,  we had several children scheduled for surgeries in Antigua in April, May, and June.    We are trying to work with the families and see what alternatives we can give them regarding surgery in the Capital.   We are unsure as to when U.S. surgeons and nurses are going to be allowed back into Guatemala.

We thank you so much for the continued support and prayers and we are so ready to return to love on the children and families in Santa María.

Here are a few of the families we were able to help feed this month:

The feeding center is offering beans and rice twice a week.  Only one child from each family can come to the center,  they must line up outside with their bag, 6 feet apart and with masks.   Here is a picture from last week of some of the children lined up for food.
