JULY 2024

ISAIAH 58:10 - "If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday sun."

July was a very,  very,  busy month but we received such a blessing.    We helped at Clinica Ezell during surgery week with General and Eye patients,  built five homes,  and fed the children.    We have included some pics below of the different opportunities this month.

MEDICAL

Claudia is one of the teenage workers at Campos,  she was in real need of glasses for school.  Donations were received for the clinic appointment and the purchase of glasses.

Claudia and her new glasses that she picked out herself.

Some of the pics from Clinica Ezell and the general and eye operations that went on this month.

Maria Cuy with 1yr old son.   Maria had eye surgery this month.  She got an ulcer in her eye a year and a half ago from wood smoke in her home.  She received treatment at that time and it was progressing well with the drops,  however she became pregnant and did not want to hurt the baby so she discontinued the treatment without consulting the doctor.  Her condition worsened and a tear developed in her eye that resulted in constant drainage and loss of vision.  When we first saw her this past month we scheduled an appt. with an eye surgeon.   She has now had surgery to repair the tear but she will be unable to see from that eye again.  In addition,  her husband is abusive and has hit her in the eye previously.  We have involved local elders to talk with and counsel her husband.  Maria's family could use your prayers,  she is 35 yrs old with 4 children.

Construction

With generous donations we were able to complete 5 homes this month for needy families.  The families are so grateful to be off a dirt floor and bamboo walls.  It is currently rainy season and the family are constantly fighting cold, wet conditions inside their home.   The new home is dry and concrete floors which help with the conditions as well as preventing some illnesses.  Below are some pics of the families and the time we had with them during the building of their home.

Included below are some of the pictures taken of the homes and living conditions that we encountered on our initial visits with the families.

At the end of the house build we always present the Gospel to the family,  invite them to church if they do not attend, and give them contact information for the local pastor.  It is an exciting and emotional time when the house blessing is given,  the gospel is shared,  and the keys are presented.

Fidel presenting the Proclaimer - a solar powered audio bible in the Kachiquel language specifically in the dialect of Santa Maria de Jesus.

One of the finished homes.

Elvia had been to school through the 4th grade and was able to read.  She is the first one that when presented the gospel that read to us from the gospel of John with the bible that we gave her.  It was such  a blessing for us.

Sometimes when we build in the remote areas we have the police escort us just for security.   We have never had an issue and some of the police really want to get involved in the building process.

Campos de Suenos - The children's feeding center.

We always enjoy feeding the children and love being around the kids and their joy despite the circumstances.

The children memorize scripture and then present it on stage before the program begins.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to become a nonprofit and to have donors that make it possible for us to help feed the children,  build homes, and assist with medical needs.  But most of all the opportunity to share the Gospel to the least of these here in Guatemala.  Seeing God move in hearts to give and seeing Him move to those who receive is wonderful and heart moving.  May He be glorified!
